What is an ATS score?

An ATS (Applicant Tracking System) score measures how well your resume is parsed and ranked by the software that 98% of Fortune 500 companies use to filter candidates before a human ever sees your application.

When you apply online, your resume goes through an ATS first. The system scans for specific keywords, formatting compatibility, and relevance to the job description. If your score is too low, your resume gets filtered out — even if you're perfectly qualified.

What affects your ATS score?

What's a good ATS score?

80–100% — Excellent. Your resume is well-optimized and likely to reach a human reviewer.

60–79% — Good but improvable. You're getting through some filters but missing keywords that could push you higher.

Below 60% — At risk. Many ATS systems auto-reject below this threshold. Optimization is critical.

Why most resumes fail ATS

The #1 reason candidates get filtered out isn't experience — it's that their resume uses different language than the job posting. A job asks for "stakeholder management" but your resume says "client relationships." An ATS sees those as different things. RoleReady closes that gap automatically.
